Festival gifts to non-Jews who do not serve idols, and wages or rental fees connected to יין נסך.
Overview
The amud opens with רב יהודה, who sent a gift to a non-Jew named אבידרנא on his festival day because he knew the man does not serve idols. רב יוסף challenges him twice from the laws of a גר תושב, and רב יהודה answers both challenges. Next, רבא sends a gift to בר שישך for the same reason. Their talk turns into a debate about whether עולם הבא can beat worldly pleasure, and the story ends with בר שישך's own curse striking him. רב פפי and רב נחמן בר יצחק then suggest פסוקים that רבא could have quoted. The גמרא returns to the משנה and asks when a worker's wage stays permitted if he was also asked to move יין נסך. אביי and רבא give two answers, and a ברייתא supports רבא. The גמרא then discusses renting a donkey: a jug the renter adds does not change the fee, and it explains what the renter and the donkey driver may each load. The amud ends as a new story about the father of רב אחא בריה דרב איקא begins.
