A quoted משנה about a סאה of impure תרומה that fell into one hundred סאה of pure חולין: does it get nullified, and how must the mixture be eaten?
Overview
The גמרא is quoting a משנה about one סאה of impure תרומה that fell into one hundred סאה of pure חולין. רבי אליעזר says one סאה is lifted out and left to rot. He reasons that we view it as the very same impure סאה that fell in. The חכמים say the תרומה is nullified in the hundred, so nothing has to rot. Even so, the impure תרומה is still mixed in, so they require the food to be kept from becoming able to receive טומאה. It may be eaten dry or roasted, or kneaded with fruit juice. It may also be split into small doughs with less than a כביצה of the תרומה in each. The amud ends as the גמרא begins quoting a ברייתא about "those חולין", and that ברייתא continues on the next amud.
Opening lines
לְמֵאָה חוּלִּין טְהוֹרִין,
into one hundred [se'a] of pure non-sacred produce,
רַבִּי אֱלִיעֶזֶר אוֹמֵר: תֵּירוֹם וְתֵרָקֵב,
Rabbi Eliezer says: let it be lifted out and left to rot,
שֶׁאֲנִי אוֹמֵר:
for I say:
הִיא סְאָה שֶׁנָּפְלָה הִיא סְאָה שֶׁעָלְתָה.
the se'a that fell in is the se'a that came out.
