Saying הבדלה over a cup and on יום טוב after שבת, and wording in prayer that gets a חזן silenced
Overview
This amud finishes the laws of הבדלה and then begins the last משנה of the chapter. רבא rules that even if you said הבדלה in the עמידה, you say it again over a cup of wine, just like קידוש. Next, the גמרא discusses רבי אליעזר's view that הבדלה goes in the ברכה of הודאה. רבי יוחנן's ruling for a יום טוב that falls on מוצאי שבת was reported with different wordings: הלכה, מטין, מודים, and נראין. רב יוסף settles practice with the 'pearl' prayer of רב and שמואל, ותודיענו, which puts הבדלה inside the יום טוב blessing. A new משנה then lists phrases that get a חזן silenced, such as the bird's nest plea and saying מודים twice, and the גמרא explains why. Stories about רבה and רבי חנינא teach that we may not add our own praises of God. A side teaching shows that everything is in Heaven's hands except יראת שמים. The amud ends with רבי זירא's rule about repeating שמע, and רב פפא asks אביי a question whose answer comes on the next amud.
