סמיכה and offerings on יום טוב, the Sunday 'day of slaughter' after שבועות, and the seven make-up days of שבועות

Overview

The amud opens by finishing an earlier discussion: רב אשי shows that the ban on סמיכה on יום טוב does not prove that leaning on an animal's sides is forbidden, because the place where סמיכה is done counts as the animal's back. Then a new משנה begins. בית שמאי and בית הלל argue about which offerings may be brought on יום טוב and whether one may lean on them. They also argue about whether the 'day of slaughter' moves to Sunday when שבועות falls on Friday, and they agree that it does when שבועות falls on שבת. On that Sunday the כהן גדול wore regular clothes and people could eulogize and fast, so that no one would think those who say שבועות is always after שבת were right. The גמרא then learns from a פסוק that שבועות has seven days of תשלומין, like פסח. It asks why we don't compare שבועות to סוכות and give it eight days, and it settles on seven using the rule תפשת מרובה לא תפשת. Next it explains that the mention of סוכות in the פסוק teaches that סוכות, like פסח, requires לינה. The amud ends by asking where we learn that פסח itself requires לינה.
