The two names in בת היענה, signs of kosher and non-kosher birds, and the signs and named species of kosher חגבים
Overview
The amud opens by finishing a proof. A סופר writes בת היענה as two words, so it is two names, and the egg is forbidden too. The גמרא challenges this from כדרלעמר and answers that only בת היענה may be split even across two lines. Next, a ברייתא on the משנה's rule about a bird that is דורס gives several signs of non-kosher and kosher birds. Some signs come from the bird's body, some from how it grips a cord, some from how it catches food, and one from the birds it lives with. אביי narrows the air-catching sign to a bird that also eats in the air. The גמרא also shows that the rule of אחרים can fit the רבנן, since it requires living with the other birds and also looking like them. The גמרא then turns to חגבים. רב פפא requires that the wings cover most of the length and most of the circumference, and a ברייתא permits a חגב that will grow its signs later. The amud ends with two teachings that identify the kosher locust species in the פסוק and add more species from the words 'למינו'. The teaching of the school of רבי ישמעאל continues on the next amud.
Opening lines
בְּתַרְתֵּי תֵּיבוֹת,
into two words,
שְׁמַע מִינַּהּ תְּרֵי שֵׁמוֹת נִינְהוּ.
conclude from it that they are two names.
אֶלָּא מֵעַתָּה
But if that is so,
״אֶת כְּדׇר לָעֹמֶר״
