Worms in produce, in animals and in fish: when they count as forbidden שרצים. Then the list of creeping creatures, the לויתן, and the close of פרק אלו טרפות.
Overview
The amud opens with the end of שמואל's ruling: produce that became wormy while still attached to the ground is forbidden as 'השרץ השורץ על הארץ'. The גמרא tries to support him from two ברייתות. It then rejects that proof: the ברייתות can be read as worms in the fruit (permitted) versus worms in the tree itself (forbidden). רב יוסף and רב אשי ask when a worm counts as having left its fruit, and both questions end in תיקו. The גמרא then discusses קוקיאני, worms found inside an animal's organs, and gives two versions of the ruling (in the name of רב ששת בריה דרב אידי, and in the second version רב שישא בריה דרב אידי) along with רב אשי's argument. The final הלכה is that קוקיאני are forbidden because worms crawl in through the snout. Worms in meat are forbidden, and worms in fish are permitted. רבינא explains this difference: an animal needs שחיטה, but fish are permitted just by being caught. The amud ends with a ברייתא listing the forbidden creeping creatures and a proof that the לויתן is a kosher fish, followed by the הדרן closing פרק אלו טרפות.
