Can a יורש do ביטול רשות in a courtyard on שבת when he inherits on שבת itself?

Overview

רבא asks רב נחמן whether an heir who inherits a share in a courtyard on שבת may do ביטול רשות. Maybe he cannot, because he could not have made an עירוב before שבת. Or maybe he can, because a יורש stands in his father's place. רב נחמן says the heir can renounce, though the school of שמואל taught that he cannot. רבא challenges him with a ברייתא: whatever was permitted or forbidden at the start of שבת stays that way all שבת, except for one who renounces his rights. The גמרא explains the ברייתא's examples and then draws the inference that only the owner himself is excepted, not an heir. רב נחמן answers that the exception covers the whole category of renouncing, which includes heirs. A second ברייתא says an heir 'forbids' carrying, and רב נחמן explains this means he forbids only until he renounces. The amud ends as the גמרא begins a new challenge about a Jew and a גר who shared one residence, and it continues on the next amud.
