The חלה measure derived from the עומר of מן, then a new משנה on a חצר and a מרפסת without an ערוב, and the debate between רב and שמואל over a spot reached by lowering versus throwing

Overview

This amud opens by finishing a discussion about food measurements. The גמרא asks how much dough is obligated in חלה. The answer is 'like your dough', which means like the dough of the desert: the daily עומר of מן, a tenth of an איפה. From this the חכמים set the חלה amount at seven רבעים of flour plus a little, the same amount as six Jerusalem quarters or five ציפורי quarters. They also say that eating about this much each day is healthy. Then a new משנה begins. When the people of a חצר and the people of a מרפסת above it did not make an ערוב, any raised spot in the חצר that is ten טפחים high and within four טפחים of the מרפסת belongs to the מרפסת, and anything else belongs to the חצר. The גמרא first lists obvious cases, sorted by how each side reaches a spot: through an entrance, by throwing, or by lowering. It then asks about a spot that one side reaches by lowering and the other by throwing. רב says both sides are forbidden to use it. שמואל says the side that lowers gets it, because easy use beats hard use. The גמרא begins testing this debate against our משנה, and the argument continues on the next amud.
