Believing a woman's divorce claim, who receives a betrothed נערה's גט, a minor's ability to guard a גט, and whether a minor can acquire on behalf of others.

Overview

The amud opens by finishing a discussion about a woman who claims she was divorced. The rule that an agent does his job is used only to be strict. רב המנונא's rule that a woman would not lie to her husband's face works only when nothing backs up her claim. Then a new משנה teaches that a betrothed נערה and her father can each receive her גט, while רבי יהודה says only the father can. The גמרא explains the argument: the רבנן say the תורה gave her an extra hand, and רבי יהודה says her hand counts for nothing while her father is alive. The משנה also says a girl who cannot guard her גט cannot be divorced, and the גמרא concludes this means she can tell her גט apart from other things. Next comes רבי אסי's two-stage rule about when a child can acquire for himself and for others. שמואל, as רב חסדא explains him, says no minor can acquire for others. רב חיננא ורדאן challenges this from the case of a Hebrew maidservant in שיתוף מבוי, and the challenge is answered because that setup is only rabbinic. The גמרא then begins to show how ורדאן could have replied, and the reply continues on the next amud.
