Agents who change their instructions (גט and עירוב), which words from a husband order a גט, and a man in danger who says only 'write'

Overview

The amud opens by finishing an earlier case: the גט works only once the agent reaches מתא מחסיא. The גמרא then asks why רבי אלעזר needs to forbid a woman to eat תרומה right away when she only told her agent where to receive her גט. It answers that he teaches this even where the agent walked the wrong way, because he might have met the husband by chance. Next come two ברייתות that disagree about an agent who made an עירוב with a different fruit than he was told. רבה says they follow רבנן and רבי אלעזר. רב יוסף says both follow רבנן, and the ruling depends on whose fruit it was. He defends this against אביי's tower and dovecote case. A new משנה then lists which words from a husband clearly order a גט and which mean nothing, with רבי נתן and רבא explaining פַּטְּרוּהָ versus פִּיטְרוּהָ. Finally, a משנה teaches that a man in danger who says only 'write a גט' means 'write and give.' The גמרא begins the story of גניבא, which continues on the next amud.

Opening lines

גִּיטָּא לָא הָוֵי –

It is not a valid bill of divorce

עַד דְּמָטֵית לְמָתָא מַחְסֵיָא.

until you reach Mata Meḥasya.

וְרַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אוֹסֵר מִיָּד.

And Rabbi Elazar prohibits immediately.

פְּשִׁיטָא, דְּהָא מַרְאָה מָקוֹם הִיא לוֹ!

That is obvious, as she is merely indicating a place to him!
