When יום הכפורים and an אשם תלוי do not cancel a חטאת; the doubtful bird חטאת; and rams bought with money set aside for an אשם
Overview
The amud opens by finishing the rejection of a proof from the נשיא, whose קרבן can change. אביי then shows that the extra mentions of 'knowing the sin' teach that someone who finds out after יום הכפורים still brings a חטאת. רבא adds that a פסוק requires the חטאת even after an אשם תלוי. The גמרא explains that the אשם תלוי protects a person from suffering until then. Next, the גמרא discusses a bird חטאת brought out of doubt. It concludes that the משנה's burial rule applies when she learns she did not give birth, and that the burial is מדרבנן. רב and רבי יוחנן then argue over whether the bird may be eaten when she learns after מליקה that she did give birth, and each side has a supporting ברייתא. Finally, a new משנה deals with two rams bought with two סלעים set aside for an אשם. The גמרא asks what 'his מעילה' means and finds the רישא and סיפא seem to use the word differently, a question that continues on the next amud.
