The שטר מברחת a woman writes to keep property from her husband, and the new משנה on turning a wife's inherited money and produce into land, including the rule for telling produce from principal.
Overview
The amud opens with רב נחמן tearing up a gift document a woman had written to her daughter. רב ענן complains to מר עוקבא, who calls it a שטר מברחת and backs רב נחמן with שמואל's ruling that such documents are torn. רבא asks whether a mother might really give to her daughter, and רב נחמן answers that a person still puts herself first. The גמרא then challenges שמואל from a ברייתא implying that an evasion document can work. רבי זירא answers that שמואל's case is when she wrote over all her property, while the ברייתא's case is only part of it. אביי explains that the husband still does not get the property, because it is treated like property he does not know about. A new משנה then teaches that money or produce a wife inherits is used to buy land, and lists three views about produce still growing. The גמרא discusses what to buy, gives a rule for telling produce from principal, and begins a teaching of רבי ינאי about a thief that continues on the next amud.
