A delayed גט left at the sides of the public street; a husband's right to make his wife swear about managing his property, and releasing her from that oath.
Overview
The amud opens with the last words of the previous discussion: a court may force someone to keep a positive מצוה, such as paying a debt. Then רמי בר חמא asks רב חסדא about a גט that takes effect only after thirty days, which the woman left at צידי רשות הרבים (the sides of the public street). In one version רב חסדא says she is not divorced, learning from רב ושמואל that things lying in public are not acquired. רמי בר חמא counters with רב נחמן's case of a cow acquired after thirty days while standing in an אגם (open meadow). In a second version the two sides are swapped, and each comparison is rejected because these places are each their own category. A new משנה follows: a husband who makes his wife a storekeeper or a manager of his property may make her swear whenever he wants, and רבי אליעזר says this covers even her spinning and her dough. The גמרא proves from a ברייתא that רבי אליעזר allows that oath from the start, not only by adding it onto another oath (גלגול). The next משנה teaches how a husband can write in the כתובה that he gives up his right to make her swear, and how far that release reaches: to her heirs, to his heirs, and to a widow who managed the estate. The amud ends as the גמרא asks what oath the husband had over her in the first place, and רב's answer begins on the next amud.
