Which kinds of kneading (גלגול) exempt dough from חלה: kneading while the dough is הקדש, and kneading while it belongs to a גוי

Overview

The גמרא carries the rules about smoothing grain (מירוח) over to kneading dough (גלגול) for חלה. A משנה proves that dough kneaded while it was הקדש stays exempt from חלה even after it is redeemed. רבא then asks about dough kneaded while a גוי owned it, and a משנה about a גר shows that it is exempt. The גמרא asks whose view that משנה follows. It might be everyone's, because only the מעשרות verses have an extra ״דגנך״. Or it might be only רבי יוסי and רבי שמעון, since רבי מאיר and רבי יהודה could learn חלה from מעשרות through ״ראשית״ ״ראשית״. רבא wishes to see the answer in a dream, and then rules that גלגול גוי follows מירוח גוי for each opinion. רב פפא and רבינא challenge him from ברייתות that obligate a גוי's תרומה but exempt his חלה. The גמרא answers that the obligation on the גוי's grain there is only מדרבנן, a גזירה because of wealthy people.

דִּתְנַן: הִקְדִּישָׁהּ עִיסָּתָהּ עַד שֶׁלֹּא גִּלְגְּלָה
