Doubtful נזירות vows that depend on a son being born, and what happens when one נזירות term interrupts another

Overview

The amud opens by finishing a question about a friend who answers 'and I' when someone vows to be a נזיר once a certain person has a son. If that person is not there, does the friend mean his own future son, or is he saying he loves that person just as much? The גמרא finds no answer and leaves it as תיבעי. Then a new משנה teaches how to order two נזירות terms, one starting now and one starting when a son is born. If he mentioned his own term first, he finishes it and only then counts the son's term. If he mentioned the son's term first, he pauses his own, counts the son's, and then finishes his own. In the גמרא, רבא asks whether a 100-day נזירות can start now if a 30-day term will interrupt it after 20 days. The גמרא asks why רבא didn't ask about a short term instead, and answers that his question grew out of an earlier question. That earlier question is laid out on the next amud.

וְשָׁמַע חֲבֵירוֹ וְאָמַר ״וַאֲנִי״,

and his friend heard and said: "And I,"
