The order of the משנה, and how 'אהא' and 'אהא נאה' work as נזירות vows
Overview
This amud first finishes a discussion about the order of the משנה. The משנה opened with כינויים (substitute words for נזירות) but explained ידות (partial phrases) first. The גמרא explains that ידות come from a דרשה, so they are dear to the תנא. It adds that a תנא opens with the main subject but explains his favorite topic first. Then the גמרא turns to the case of 'אהא' ('I will be'). שמואל says it counts when a נזיר was passing by and the speaker meant נזירות in his heart, even though his words alone were not fully clear. Next comes 'אהא נאה' ('I will be beautiful'), which could mean beautifying מצוות. שמואל answers that the speaker was holding his hair. The amud ends by asking how נזירות, a matter linked to sin, can be called 'beautiful', and the answer comes on the next amud.
