Overview

This amud opens with the last words of the משנה about counting animals for מעשר בהמה. The גמרא asks whose view the משנה follows when it lets a נזיר count from the day he vowed. A ברייתא shows the רבנן and רבי יוסי arguing about a נזיר who broke his vow, and at first the משנה seems to fit neither. The גמרא answers that it can fit רבי יוסי if it is about a short נזירות, or the רבנן if we read 'like from the time he vowed'. Next, רבי ירמיה shows that when a חכם undoes a נזיר's vow, both בית שמאי and בית הלל agree his animal goes back to the flock. The גמרא then brings a dispute between רב נחמן and רב חסדא with רבה בר רב הונא: does calling the wrong animal 'tenth' on purpose make it holy? רבא challenges רב נחמן, רב שימי בר אשי defends him with a קל וחומר, and the גמרא rejects that קל וחומר because הקדש depends on the owner's intention. Finally, a new משנה begins about a נזיר whose animal was stolen.
