The sources for טעם כעיקר and היתר מצטרף לאיסור. רבי עקיבא learns from גיעולי גוים, the רבנן learn from ״משרת״, and the two sides argue over the rule of שני כתובים הבאין כאחד.

Overview

The amud opens with רבי עקיבא's source for טעם כעיקר. He learns it from גיעולי גוים: the vessels taken from מדין held only absorbed taste, yet they had to be purged. The רבנן don't learn from there, because they see the law as a חידוש. It forbids even a spoiling taste, and even a pot used that same day spoils the taste a little. For רבי עקיבא the Torah forbade only a קדירה בת יומא, whose taste is good, so it is no חידוש. Next, רב אחא asks why רבי עקיבא's lesson from ״משרת״, that היתר מצטרף לאיסור, doesn't spread to the whole Torah. רב אשי answers that נזיר and חטאת are שני כתובים הבאין כאחד, and the גמרא brings the ברייתא on ״בבשרה יקדש״ as the חטאת source. The רבנן and רבי עקיבא then argue over whether both verses are needed and what each one teaches. Finally, רב כהנא explains that permitted food joins with forbidden food only when they are eaten together, but two forbidden foods join even one after the other. The amud ends as the גמרא starts a question about רבי שמעון, which continues on the next amud.

"Every thing that passes through the fire"

לְמֵימְרָא דַּאֲסִירִי.

that is to say that they are forbidden.
