נזיר: amounts for liability, separate liability for grape products, and whether there is מלקות for a לאו שבכללות

Overview

The גמרא first explains why the תנא קמא and רבי עקיבא in the משנה disagree about how much a נזיר must eat or drink to be liable. A ברייתא then teaches that fresh grapes and dried grapes each bring their own liability. From there it builds a rule for the whole תורה: one kind of food with two names brings two liabilities, and this includes new wine and grapes. אביי and רבא then argue over how many sets of מלקות a נזיר gets for eating a grape seed or skin. Their argument turns on whether there is מלקות for a לאו שבכללות. רב פפא challenges אביי from a ברייתא where רבי אליעזר counts only five sets of מלקות. The גמרא tries to answer that the list is incomplete, then tests and rejects that answer. רבינא then points out a real omission, and רב פפא concludes that the ברייתא never gave a number at all. A new challenge to this begins at the end of the amud and continues on the next one.
