Whether a poured stream (נצוק) connects for melted foods, and the size of a 'full ladle of רקב'
Overview
The amud opens with the end of the משנה, where בית שמאי add thick bean stews to the list of liquids whose poured stream counts as connected. רמי בר חמא asks whether melted foods also get this stream connection. The answer depends on whether the משנה's reason is that those liquids pull back or simply that they are thick. רבא tries to prove it from melted fat of a dead body, but רבי זירא explains that case as fat that hardened into one piece. רבינא tries a proof from בית שמאי's wording, and רב אשי answers that honey and stew connect for different reasons. The גמרא then turns to the משנה's 'full ladle of רקב'. חזקיה says it is a full palm and רבי יוחנן says it is a full handful. The גמרא matches רבי יוחנן to the חכמים and חזקיה to רבי מאיר. רב שימי בר אדא's question about which direction רבי מאיר meant ends in תיקו.
