Whether the days a נזיר spends as a מצורע count toward his נזירות: רב שרביה's proof from a משנה and his own answer, followed by the start of a new objection from רמי בר חמא.

Overview

The גמרא is checking whether the days a נזיר spends as a confirmed מצורע count toward his נזירות. First it finishes a proof from a משנה that says that after his צרעת shaving the נזיר 'starts counting immediately'. A short נזירות doesn't fit that wording, so the גמרא argues the משנה must be about a long נזירות. That would suggest the צרעת days are lost. רב שרביה, who brought this proof himself, then turns it back. He reads the משנה as a fifty-day נזירות in which the נזיר got צרעת after twenty days. The thirty days he still has left give him the hair growth he needs, so the משנה proves nothing. Finally, רמי בר חמא starts a new challenge from another משנה, about a נזיר whose טומאה and whose status as a confirmed מצורע are both uncertain. That quote continues on the next amud.
