Who is greater, the one who says the ברכה or the one who answers אמן, and the closing teaching that תלמידי חכמים increase peace in the world

Overview

This last section of מסכת נזיר opens by finishing רב's advice to his son חייא: grab the chance to lead the ברכה over the cup at ברכת המזון. רב הונא gave his son רבה the same advice. The גמרא asks whether this means saying the ברכה is better than answering אמן. It points to a ברייתא where רבי יוסי says the one who answers אמן is greater, and רבי נהוראי supports him with a battlefield parable. The גמרא answers that תנאים argue about this, since another ברייתא says the one who says the ברכה is rewarded first. The מסכת then ends with רבי אלעזר in the name of רבי חנינא: תלמידי חכמים increase peace in the world, as the פסוק in ישעיהו says. A closing הדרן line finishes the chapter הגוים אין להם נזירות and the whole of מסכת נזיר.
