Whether replacements (חילופין) are like growths (גידולין), with two rejected proofs; then a new משנה on who is forbidden by a חרם vow and the exception for national property

Overview

The גמרא finishes a two-sided question about the משנה's rule that replacements (חילופין) of forbidden fruit are forbidden. Either that is a special strictness for someone who forbade the fruit to himself, or replacements are treated like growths (גידולין), so the rule would apply to anyone. רב אחא בר מניומי brings a ברייתא to show that replacements are not like growths. In that case a wife under her husband's קונם borrows money, and her lenders collect from him. רבא rejects the proof: maybe replacements are forbidden לכתחילה, but once done, it stands בדיעבד. A second proof, from קידושין done with money from selling ערלה fruit, is rejected the same way. Then a new משנה begins. It teaches that the wording of a חרם vow decides who is forbidden to benefit from whom: the listener, the speaker, or both. Even when both are forbidden, both may still use property of עולי בבל, which belongs to the whole nation.

Opening lines

אוֹ דִילְמָא מִשּׁוּם דְּחִילּוּפִין

Or perhaps it is because replacements

כְּגִידּוּלִין דָּמֵי,

are considered like growths,

לָא שְׁנָא הוּא וְלָא שְׁנָא חֲבֵרוֹ.

so there is no difference for him and no difference for his friend.
