Releasing a נדר before it takes effect; then a משנה on wives' claims that end a marriage, with a כהן's wife's eating of תרומה and her כתובה

Overview

The עמוד opens by finishing a sugya about whether a חכם can release a נדר before it takes effect. One version of the dispute between רבי נתן and רבנן says everyone agrees he can. The גמרא tests that version against two ברייתות. The first ברייתא is answered, because it never says which vow counts as 'first.' The second ברייתא, about a vow and a linked נזירות, fixes the order clearly, so that version is refuted with a תיובתא. A new משנה follows about three claims a wife might make to end her marriage. At first she was believed and collected her כתובה, but חכמים later changed the rule so a woman could not invent an excuse to leave. The גמרא then asks whether a כהן's wife who says 'I am defiled' may eat תרומה. רב ששת says she may and רבא says she may not, and רבא adds that רב ששת agrees she may not once she is widowed or divorced. Finally, רבא's test question asks whether a כהן's wife who was raped still gets her כתובה, and the discussion continues on the next עמוד.
