Overview

This amud opens in the middle of a ברייתא that reads a verse in יחזקאל to learn what may be offered on the מזבח. Two rules come from it: ערלה is nullified in two hundred, and נסכים may not come from טבל, while a מוקצה animal may still be offered. אביי uses the ברייתא to argue that מוקצה is only rabbinic. He also reminds רבה of his own rule that there is no חילוק מלאכות on יום טוב. The גמרא defends רבה's count of five lashes by replacing הבערה, first with עצי אשירה and then, after a challenge from רב אחא בריה דרבא, with עצי הקדש. רמי בר חמא then ties the ״הואיל״ dispute between רב חסדא and רבה to the dispute of רבי אליעזר and רבי יהושע about חלה. רב פפא and רב שישא each push back on that link. רבי ירמיה and רבי זירא then argue over whether רבי אליעזר's silence in a ברייתא disproves it. The amud ends with rulings and measures for kneading dough on פסח, and רב's 'Melogna קב', which a ברייתא on the next amud will challenge.
