One sandal for a wounded foot, the order of putting on shoes, and going out on שבת with תפילין and amulets

Overview

The גמרא infers that a person with a wounded foot may go out on שבת in one sandal. רב הונא and חייא בר רב disagree about which foot gets it, and a proof from a story about רבי יוחנן is rejected because it fits both views. This leads to רבי יוחנן's rule that the left shoe goes on first, like תפילין, which clashes with a ברייתא that says right first. רב יוסף allows both orders, אביי objects, and a ירא שמים like מר בריה דרבנא arranges things to satisfy both, while רב כהנא was not particular. The גמרא then quotes the full ברייתא: right first for putting on shoes, washing and oiling, left first for taking shoes off, and the head first when oiling the whole body. Next, רב ספרא explains the משנה's rule about going out with תפילין, in two versions, and concludes that תפילין are worn like a garment. Finally, רב פפא explains that an amulet is allowed if its writer is an expert, and a ברייתא defines a proven amulet and allows tying it on even in רשות הרבים, with a condition that finishes on the next amud.

Opening lines

הָא יֵשׁ בְּרַגְלוֹ מַכָּה — נָפֵיק.

בְּהֵי מִינַּיְיהוּ נָפֵיק?

With which of them (which foot) does he go out?

אָמַר רַב הוּנָא:

Rav Huna said:
