When do כלי שרת make things holy at the wrong time? The cases are the night קמיצה and the late לחם הפנים. The amud then turns to washing hands after urinating in the מקדש.
Overview
The גמרא asks why a מנחה whose קומץ was taken at night must be burned, instead of putting the handful back and redoing it by day. אבוה דרבי אבין explains that כלי שרת make their contents holy even at the wrong time. A ברייתא seems to contradict this, but the גמרא answers that wrong-time קדושה is enough to make the item פסול, though not enough to let it be offered. רבי זירא then challenges from the לחם הפנים: bread placed on the שולחן after שבת is simply left until the next שבת, so why doesn't it become holy and פסול? רבא answers that placing something the night before is not 'too early', but placing it a full day or more before is, so the Sunday bread never becomes holy. When the גמרא asks why the bread doesn't become holy once Friday night arrives, רבינא says it was removed before nightfall. מר זוטרא says an improper arrangement is like one done by a monkey. Finally, the גמרא turns to the next line of the משנה and asks why someone who urinates must wash his hands. רבי אבא begins an answer that continues on the next amud.
