רבי יהודה and ברירה, why there is one stand on יום הכפורים, and the sprinklings in the היכל
Overview
The amud opens by asking whether רבי יהודה accepts ברירה, the idea that a later choice can reveal what was true all along. A proof from the wine case is rejected, because there the worry may simply be that the jug could burst. A stronger proof comes from איו's ברייתא about a two-sided ערוב, and רבי יוחנן explains why the east-or-west case is not ברירה. With אין ברירה established, the גמרא asks why רבי יהודה does not allow two labeled stands on יום הכפורים, since he does trust writing. The answer is that the fasting כהן גדול is too weak to notice differences. He does not notice bowl size or blood color, so he would not notice a label either. רבא then corrects a חזן whose description of the עבודה mixed the views of the רבנן and רבי יהודה. Finally, a ברייתא teaches that the sprinklings in the היכל copy those inside the קודש הקדשים, and that the שכינה stays with ישראל even in their impurity. A צדוקי's challenge to that idea begins at the end of the amud and continues on the next one.

Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yosei, and Rabbi Shimon forbid it.
אַלְמָא אֵין בְּרֵירָה.
Apparently, there is no retroactive clarification.
