Mixed-up קרבנות: the end of the משנה, and why our משנה is needed alongside the משניות in תמורה and עבודה זרה
Overview
This amud finishes the משנה about a קרבן that got mixed up with other animals. If it was mixed with disqualified animals, or with a different kind of קרבן, all the animals graze until they get a blemish. Then they are sold and new offerings are bought, and in the second case the owner pays any extra cost himself. If it was mixed with fit חולין, the animals are sold to people who need that kind of offering. If it was mixed with the same kind of קרבן, each animal is offered for its owner. Animals mixed with a בכור or מעשר are eaten under the rules of both, and any offerings can get mixed up except a חטאת with an אשם. The גמרא then asks what 'even one in ten thousand' means, and it rereads the משנה: one forbidden animal hidden among many offerings forbids them all. It asks why this is needed when a משנה in תמורה teaches the same rule. Through רב שימי's answer and a few back-and-forth challenges, it shows that each משנה teaches something the other does not. Finally the גמרא raises a new challenge from a משנה in עבודה זרה about יין נסך, and the answer comes on the next amud.

an offering of that same kind.
