Wine touched, moved or pressed by a גוי: a pierced barrel, pouring, carrying, and the winepress

Overview

This amud discusses wine that a גוי touched, moved or pressed, and when that wine becomes forbidden. It opens by finishing רב פפא's ruling that only part of a pierced barrel's wine is forbidden. A second version moves the cutoff to the stopper. רב יימר links this to a dispute of תנאים in a משנה about a pierced barrel touched by a טבול יום. Next, רב פפא rules on pouring. Wine poured by a גוי is forbidden even into a Jew's cup, because it flows by the גוי's force. Wine poured by a Jew into a גוי's cup is permitted, unless the גוי tilts the cup. רב פפא also rules on a גוי carrying a closed wineskin, where the worry is sloshing, and an open cup, where the worry is touching. רב אשי disagrees and permits any wineskin. The amud then brings an argument about wine from a beam-press, with two versions of whether the dispute concerns direct force (כֹּחוֹ) or indirect force (כֹּחַ כֹּחוֹ). In a real case, רב יעקב מנהר פקוד forbade wine pressed by indirect force. A new story about a barrel begins at the end and continues on the next amud.
