Which kinds of contact by a גוי make Jewish wine forbidden: a split barrel, a winepress, and the משנה's cases of a loan, indirect contact, and a barrel thrown in anger.
Overview
The amud opens by finishing a story about a barrel that split while a גוי hugged it closed. If it split lengthwise, the wine may only be sold to גוים. If it split widthwise, even drinking is allowed, because he was just acting like a brick. רב אשי then explains how to clean a winepress a גוי stood in. A new משנה follows with several cases. A גוי found by the vat forbids the wine only if the owner owes him money. When a גוי fell in or touched the wine indirectly, the חכמים say it may be sold and רבי שמעון permits it. A barrel thrown in anger was declared fit. In the גמרא, שמואל limits the loan case to a loan tied to that wine, and רב אשי proves this from the בית שאן משנה. רב פפא adds that a גוי who came out of the vat alive forbids the wine, because he treats his rescue like a holiday. The גמרא praises רבי שמעון's all-or-nothing view but rules against him. Finally, רב אשי compares a גוי's contact to a זב's, and רב הונא challenges this comparison from the words "in his anger."
