Overview

The amud opens by finishing a discussion about acquiring land. רב נחמן rules that taking possession of a sand field also acquires a pond sold with it. The גמרא explains that this adds something to שמואל's rule, because the two pieces of land have different uses. Next, a new משנה teaches what comes with the sale of a בית הבד (olive press): the fixed parts are included, the movable tools are not, and saying 'it and everything in it' includes them all. רבי אליעזר holds that the beam is always included. The גמרא defines each part and brings a ברייתא with a similar list, along with רבי אליעזר's reason: the press is named after the beam. A second משנה applies the same pattern to a bathhouse, and some things, like the water tanks, are never included. A ברייתא adds that the storage rooms are sold but the items in them are not, and it continues on the next amud.
