Overview

This amud opens with the last exchange of the perek המוכר את הבית. The גמרא asks why ריש לקיש's ruling was needed if it only matches רבי שמעון, and answers that it shows רבי מנחם ברבי יוסי also holds like רבי שמעון. After the Hadran, a new perek begins with a משנה about selling a ship. The mast, sail, anchors and steering gear go with the ship, but the slaves, packing bags and אנתיקי do not, unless the seller says 'it and everything in it.' The גמרא explains the words תורן, נס, עוגין and מנהיגין, proving each one from a פסוק. A ברייתא then adds the gangway, the water tank and a small boat. רבא explains that ביצית and דוגית are two local names for that same boat. Then the גמרא turns to אגדה: רבה tells sailors' stories about huge waves, and two waves talking about the sand border ה׳ set for the sea. The amud ends as רבה begins a story about the demon הורמין בר לילית, which continues on the next amud.

וְלֵימָא מַחְלוֹקֶת רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן וְרַבָּנַן!
