Sending items on יום טוב (כלאים fabrics, shoes, תפילין) and what to do with תפילין when the holy day begins.
Overview
The גמרא finishes explaining how the משנה can allow sending כלאים garments on יום טוב: it means hard fabrics like felt. רב פפא, רבא and רב אשי then discuss felt socks, coin bundles and seed pouches. Next the גמרא explains the משנה's list of shoes. A סנדל המסומר may not be worn because of a past tragedy, but אביי proves from the משנה's wording that it may be moved. An unsewn shoe may not be sent even if it is pinned together. רבי יהודה and רבי יוסי only seem to argue about white and black shoes, since each followed how shoes were made in his town. The משנה's general rule is read to allow sending anything usable on a weekday, so רב ששת permits sending תפילין. אביי then teaches what to do if one is still wearing תפילין when the holy day begins. The גמרא settles the clash with a ברייתא and a משנה by sorting out how safe the תפילין are from dogs and thieves. The chapter ends with the הדרן.

Rather, it means hard ones,
וְכִי הָא דְּאָמַר רַב הוּנָא בְּרֵיהּ דְּרַב יְהוֹשֻׁעַ:
and like what Rav Huna son of Rav Yehoshua said:
הַאי נַמְטָא גַּמְדָּא דְּנַרֶשׁ — שַׁרְיָא.
this hard felt of Neresh is permitted.
