How far צירוף and other טומאה rules for קודש reach: a כלי joining its contents, the fourth level of impurity, and one hand making the other impure.
Overview
On the previous page, רבי חנין brought a פסוק to show that a כלי joins everything inside it into one unit for קודש. רב כהנא asked why רבי עקיבא then needed to testify about this. The גמרא answers that the testimony covers only rabbinic extensions: שירי מנחה, which no longer need a כלי, and קטורת or לבונה piled on a flat board with no 'inside'. It then notes that רבי יוחנן disagrees with רבי חנין, because he holds that our משנה rests on רבי עקיבא's testimony. Next, a ברייתא of רבי יוסי teaches that a third level of impurity for קודש comes from the Torah and a fourth level comes from a קל וחומר. The גמרא shows the Torah source for the third level in a פסוק in ויקרא. Then רב שיזבי limits the משנה's rule that one impure hand makes the other impure for קודש to a case where the hands are in contact with the קודש. אביי challenges him from a ברייתא about a dry hand. Finally ריש לקיש begins to limit the rule to a person's own hand, and his statement continues on the next amud.
Opening lines
לֹא נִצְרְכָא אֶלָּא לִשְׁיָרֵי מִנְחָה.
It is needed only for the remainders of a meal-offering.
דְּאוֹרָיְיתָא, צָרִיךְ לִכְלִי —
For by Torah law, something that requires a vessel —
הַכְּלִי מְצָרְפוֹ,
the vessel combines it;
שֶׁאֵין צָרִיךְ לִכְלִי —
something that does not require a vessel —
