Trusting an עם הארץ on purity: inheritance, a check made for the פסח, flasks, and potters near מודיעים

Overview

The amud opens with a משנה about a חבר and an עם הארץ who inherit from their father. They may split same-kind items by location, but they may not swap different kinds, and a ברייתא adds that the חבר burns wet produce and keeps dry. The גמרא then discusses whether a check of a בית הפרס made for the קרבן פסח also allows eating תרומה. עולא says yes and רבה בר עולא says no, and an old man supports עולא from our משנה about a רביעית of קודש. Next, a ברייתא says an עם הארץ is not believed about flasks, and the גמרא explains which flasks it means. It also reads the משנה's 'mixed jugs' as טבל kept pure for נסכים. אביי learns from the 'seventy days before the winepress' that a tenant farmer must prepare flasks then. A new משנה rules that potters inside מודיעים are believed about clay vessels, and a ברייתא explains when מודיעים itself counts as inside or outside. That discussion continues on the next amud.
