Whether non-Jews have the status of מינין (for שחיטה and קרבנות), the impurity of a נכרי's slaughtered animal, and slaughtering at night or by a blind person

Overview

The amud opens with the last line of a ברייתא about a מין (a committed heretic): one opinion says even his sons are ממזרים. The תנא קמא disagrees, because he holds that a מין still guards his wife. The גמרא then asks why a נכרי's שחיטה is only נבלה. Shouldn't we worry he is a מין, whose שחיטה is forbidden even for benefit? The answer is that most non-Jews are not מינין, since they only follow their ancestors' customs, as רבי יוחנן taught. A second report of רב נחמן's rule 'there are no מינין among the nations' is explained as being about קרבנות: we accept offerings from any non-Jew, based on 'מכם' and 'איש איש.' The גמרא next explains why the משנה says the animal makes impure through carrying, giving two versions of רבא that compare it to תקרובת עבודה זרה, along with רבי יהודה בן בתירא's source. Finally, a new משנה validates שחיטה done at night or by a blind person. The גמרא settles that at night it is allowed from the start only with a torch.
