Whether the first and second סימנים join together to save an animal from נבלה impurity when the animal became a טרפה in the middle of the שחיטה, and a new teaching from ריש לקיש's rule about inviting people to eat the innards.
Overview
The גמרא asks whether the two cuts of שחיטה still join together to save an animal from נבלה impurity when it became a טרפה between the first and second cut. It limits the question to טומאה only, since eating is surely forbidden. רב אחא בר רב then suggests רבי זירא never changed his view at all. Next, רב אחא בר יעקב learns from ריש לקיש that Jews may be invited to eat the innards of a convulsing slaughtered animal, but a גוי may not, because for a גוי only death permits the meat. A ברייתא disagrees: meat cut from the neck and eaten after the animal dies is permitted to both, and this supports רב אידי בר אבין. A new משנה teaches that if no blood came out during שחיטה, the meat was never made able to become טמא, while רבי שמעון says the שחיטה itself does this. The גמרא asks why impure hands, which are only a שני, would matter for חולין, and proves four ways that the משנה is about חולין. רב נחמן answers that the case is חולין bought with מעשר שני money, not following רבי מאיר. The משנה he quotes to show this comes on the next amud.
