Walls that fall or are missing: a slanted roof, a קרפף breached into a חצר, and enclosing large orchards

Overview

This amud opens mid-discussion. If the covered part of the קרפף had a flat roof like an אכסדרה, everyone would agree that פי תקרה יורד וסותם, so the case must be a slanted roof shaped like a hammock. Next, רבי זירא says a קרפף fully breached into a חצר is forbidden, because the added space pushes it over בית סאתיים. רב יוסף objects that the חצר was already open for carrying. אביי answers that even according to רבי שמעון, the space where the walls stood is new space. רב חסדא's ruling, that the חצר stays permitted and only the קרפף is forbidden, is explained the same way: only a קרפף has a size limit. Then come two real-life cases. When a mansion's outer wall fell, רב פפי ruled that its inner walls cannot enclose the orchard, because they were built for the inside. Finally, רב הונא בר חיננא builds reed fences so the ריש גלותא can eat in his orchard pavilion on שבת, and the amud ends as רבא goes to react, which continues on the next amud.
