Splitting the two days of יום טוב: רבי יהודה's three cases, the basket-of-טבל condition, and the deer at the ריש גלותא's house
Overview
This עמוד first finishes the view of the רבנן: the holiness of the first day in that case is only rabbinic, so people will not treat the day lightly. Then the גמרא explains why רבי יהודה needed three examples: ערוב, a basket of טבל, and an egg. Each one has its own reason we might have thought he would agree with the רבנן. Next, a ברייתא shows how the basket method works. On each of the two days he declares תרומה with a condition, so it takes effect on whichever day is a weekday. רבי יוסי forbids this, even on the two ימים טובים של גליות. A story follows about a deer brought to the ריש גלותא: רב נחמן and רב חסדא ate it, but רב ששת refused, citing איסי's version of רבי יוסי. רבא and רב אסי each try to reread איסי's words. Then רבה בר שמואל reports a ברייתא in which רבי יוסי agrees to be lenient on the Diaspora days. The עמוד ends as רב אשי begins אמימר's account that the deer was not trapped on יום טוב at all, which continues on the next עמוד.
