Overview

This amud opens with the end of a משנה about a husband who gives a גט that works only if he dies from his illness. רבי יהודה says that until then she is a full אשת איש, and רבי יוסי says her status is in doubt. The גמרא then brings a ברייתא about a divorced woman seen alone with her ex-husband, asking whether we worry about זנות or about new קידושין. רב נחמן, אביי and רבא each read the ברייתא differently. After each reading, the גמרא asks which opinion fits רבי יוחנן's rule that the dispute about a second גט applies only when the couple was seen having relations. Under רב נחמן's reading the rule fits everyone. Under אביי's reading it fits רבי יוסי ברבי יהודה. Under רבא's reading it fits no single תנא. Next, a ברייתא limits the משנה's dispute to a case where the husband actually dies, and רבה explains that the גט works from his last moment of life, since there is no גט after death.
