Where a thrown גט takes effect (roofs, courtyards, baskets), using a גט ישן, and the penalties for a wrongly dated גט
Overview
This amud opens by finishing a list of points about roofs. On שבת, שמואל says each roof is its own separate area. For a גט, though, a neighboring roof of the husband still works, because a husband does not mind her using it. אביי then rules on a case where her courtyard sits inside his, and his walls are taller than hers. In that case a thrown גט counts as hers once it drops below his walls. Baskets work differently: the גט must actually land in her basket, and this works only if his outer basket has no bottom. A new משנה follows. בית שמאי and בית הלל argue about a גט ישן, and the גמרא explains that the argument is about a גזרה that people might think her divorce came before her son. Another משנה lists improper ways to date or place a גט. If she remarried using such a גט, she must leave both husbands, loses her money rights, and faces other penalties as well.
