The end of the questions about partly cancelling an 'except' restriction, and the four זקנים's arguments against רבי אליעזר's partial גט and their refutations
Overview
The amud opens by finishing a set of questions about a husband who wrote 'except ראובן and שמעון' in a גט and then took back only part of it. The questions about naming only one of them, or saying 'also to שמעון', end with תיקו. Next comes a ברייתא: after רבי אליעזר died, four זקנים came to argue against his view that a גט forbidding the woman to one man is valid. רבי טרפון points to blocked יבום, רבי יוסי הגלילי says nothing is forbidden to one man and permitted to another, רבי אלעזר בן עזריה reads כריתות as a full cutting-off, and רבי עקיבא raises the risk of ממזרים and a קל וחומר about a כהן. רבי יהושע objects that one does not refute a lion after his death. רבא rules that every argument except רבי אלעזר בן עזריה's has a weak point, and a ברייתא quoting רבי יוסי agrees. The גמרא then goes through the arguments one by one, names the weak point in each, and works out whether each was aimed at a גט worded 'except' (חוץ) or 'on condition' (על מנת). The amud ends in the middle of this check for רבי עקיבא's כהן argument, which continues on the next amud.

לִרְאוּבֵן – וְהוּא הַדִּין לְשִׁמְעוֹן,
