Overview

The amud opens by asking who wrote a ברייתא about eating from one offering cooked in five pots. Is it רבי עקיבא or רבי יהושע? Its two halves point in opposite directions, so the גמרא says תנאים disagree about whether רבי יהושע accepted רבי עקיבא's refutation. The גמרא also suggests the author could follow רבי עקיבא on הַעֲלָמָה while disagreeing with him about מעילות. Next, several אמוראים explain how one offering can produce five separate מעילות: five parts of the עולה, five limbs, one shoulder, five kinds of cooked dishes, or five flavors. A new משנה follows, in which רבי עקיבא asks רבי אליעזר about doing many תולדות of one מלאכה on many שבתות in one lapse of awareness. רבי אליעזר answers with a קל וחומר from נדה, and the two go back and forth over minor girls and an animal. The גמרא then asks what exactly רבי עקיבא was asking, and רבא answers that he asked two questions at once. Finally, the גמרא asks which kind of mistake the many-שבתות question was about. רבה begins to answer, and his answer continues on the next amud.
