A husband's vow against his wife without a set time limit: the dispute between רב and שמואל, and who is to blame when a wife's vow is upheld

Overview

This amud opens with the last words of an earlier discussion, which point to the incident of בית חורון. The גמרא then asks why רבי יהודה in the משנה seems to repeat the תנא קמא. אביי and רבא each explain what he adds. Next, רב and שמואל argue about a husband who makes a vow with no time limit. The גמרא explains why their argument had to appear in two different משניות. It then challenges שמואל from the case of a vow against tasting a fruit. To defend him, it says the wife made the vow and the husband upheld it, which leads to a long rearranging of the names in a ברייתא about who is to blame for an unrevoked vow. Finally, the גמרא starts a new contradiction about whether רבי יוסי holds that a husband can cancel a vow about adorning, and that discussion continues on the next amud.
