Immodest behavior that costs a wife her כתובה, and a wife found to have vows or blemishes
Overview
The amud opens by finishing an earlier answer. By Torah law a basket on the head (קלתה) is enough, but דת יהודית demands a real covering. רבי זירא asks where רבי יוחנן's rule that a basket avoids פרוע ראש could apply, and אביי (or רב כהנא) answers that it applies when she walks between courtyards through an alleyway. The גמרא then explains more items from the משנה: spinning in the marketplace, talking with every man (with a story from רבה בר בר חנה), cursing the husband's parents, and the קולנית, which it concludes is about behavior and not a physical מום. A new משנה follows: if he betrothed her on condition that she has no נדרים or מומין and she does, there is no קידושין, and if he married her with no condition, she leaves without a כתובה. The גמרא explains why this repeats a משנה in קידושין, then defines the vows as ones of עינוי נפש. רב פפא and רב אשי disagree over which clause that definition explains. Finally, רב and שמואל argue whether she needs a גט when he betrothed her on a condition but married her without one, and אביי's comment continues on the next amud.
Opening lines
קַלְתָּהּ שַׁפִּיר דָּמֵי,
With her basket on her head, it is fine;
דָּת יְהוּדִית —
but by Jewish custom,
אֲפִילּוּ קַלְתָּהּ נָמֵי אָסוּר.
even her basket is also forbidden.
