The left-hand קומץ and קדושה בכלי, burning the קומץ in parts, when its burning permits the שיריים, and placing offerings on the wood pile

Overview

This amud finishes a ברייתא about a כהן who moved the קומץ into his left hand. רבי אלעזר and רבי שמעון let him move it back to the right hand. The חכמים say the left hand ruins it for good, because the קומץ needs קדושה בכלי. From this the גמרא shows that רבי אלעזר and רבי שמעון do not require a כלי, which refutes רב נחמן. Next, רבי יהושע בן לוי and רבי יוחנן argue over whether the קומץ may be burned in only two parts or in many, and רבי זירא ties their argument to minimum sizes. Then רבי חנינא and רבי יוחנן argue over when the burning of the קומץ permits the כהנים to eat the שיריים. A ברייתא about items burned at sunset is used to challenge רבי יוחנן, and the גמרא answers that the מזבח 'taking hold' of the קומץ is different from permitting the שיריים. The amud ends with questions about placing the קומץ or the limbs under or beside the wood pile, and the last question continues on the next amud.

Opening lines

וְחִישֵּׁב עָלֶיהָ

And he had in mind, about it,

בֵּין חוּץ לִמְקוֹמוֹ בֵּין חוּץ לִזְמַנּוֹ –

whether outside its place or beyond its time –

פָּסוּל, וְאֵין בּוֹ כָּרֵת.

it is invalid, but there is no karet for it.

(לֹא) חִישֵּׁב עָלֶיהָ חוּץ לִמְקוֹמוֹ –

[Another version:] If he had in mind, about it, outside its place –
