Oil and לבונה on the מנחת חוטא; the משנה on הגשה and תנופה of מנחות; ten loaves of one kind; the source for הגשה
Overview
The amud opens by finishing an earlier answer: the double word 'עליה' is a רבוי אחר רבוי, which only comes to limit. In a second version, רבי יוחנן asks whether a tiny bit of oil on a כזית of a מנחת חוטא counts, and the question ends in a תיקו. A ברייתא then teaches that 'עליה' refers to the מנחה itself. So one כהן who puts both oil and לבונה on it breaks two prohibitions, while setting a vessel on top of the מנחה's vessel does not make it פסול. A new משנה sorts מנחות into four groups by whether they need הגשה, תנופה, both, or neither. It lists the מנחות that need הגשה but not תנופה. רבי שמעון disagrees about the מנחת כהנים and the מנחת כהן משיח, saying that with no קמיצה there is no הגשה. In the גמרא, רב פפא rules that an oven-baked מנחה must be ten of one kind, rejecting רבי שמעון's half-and-half view. Finally, a ברייתא derives from the פסוק that the whole מנחה, including the מנחת חוטא, needs הגשה, and it begins asking whether logic alone could teach this. That argument continues on the next amud.
