The shape of the לחם הפנים, its status during the desert journeys, and the holiness of the camps when the משכן was taken apart

Overview

The amud first finishes the argument about the shape of the לחם הפנים. A ברייתא about a square tablet seems to challenge the view that the bread looked like a rocking boat. The גמרא answers that only the mold's opening was square, and a second ברייתא about forked golden supports backs the rocking-boat view. Next comes a new question: when the משכן was taken apart and carried in the desert, did the לחם הפנים become פסול? רבי יוחנן and רבי יהושע בן לוי disagree, and each side brings a פסוק and answers the other's פסוק. רב דימי reframes the dispute as being only about bread removed from the שולחן. A ברייתא and a מה נפשך argument then knock out that version. רבין concludes that there is no dispute: bread still arranged on the שולחן stays kosher, and removed bread becomes פסול. אביי learns from the ברייתא that the משכן could be taken apart even at night. Then רב אשי settles a contradiction between two ברייתות about זבין and מצורעין by saying they follow רבי אליעזר and the רבנן, whose ברייתא begins at the end of the amud.

מֵיתִיבִי: כְּמִין כַּוֶּורֶת

They raised an objection: something like a reed basket

הָיָה לָהּ בַּתַּנּוּר,

it had in the oven,

וְדוֹמָה כְּמִין טַבְלָא מְרוּבַּעַת!

and it looked like a kind of four-cornered tablet!

אֵימָא: וּפִיהָ דּוֹמֶה

Say: and its opening looked
