End of the משנה about conditional vows between husband and wife, and the start of the גמרא: Does new growth from a planted forbidden onion (שביעית or תרומה) cancel the forbidden original?
Overview
The amud opens with the last lines of the משנה about a husband whose vow forbids his wife from benefiting from him if she visits her father's house, and how the timing of the condition works. The גמרא then quotes the next משנה ("קונם מעשה ידיך עלי") and brings a question raised by ישמעאל איש כפר ימא. An onion was uprooted in שביעית and replanted in the eighth year, and the permitted new growth became bigger than the forbidden original. Does the new growth cancel the prohibition? רבי יצחק נפחא proves that it does from רבי ינאי's ruling about a planted תרומה onion. רבי ירמיה (or רבי זריקא) objects that two sages rule the other way: רבי יוחנן on a young ערלה vine grafted onto an old vine, and רבי יונתן on an onion planted in a vineyard. רבי אמי then brings a proof from a replanted pound of tithed onions, which must be tithed on the whole crop. The גמרא rejects this proof because that ruling is a stringency. It begins a new proof from a ברייתא of רבי שמעון, which continues on the next amud.
